Weekday weddings became ‘a thing’ during the pandemic, which saw couples getting married all days and months of the year, but we’re going to let you in on a little secret… they get a big tick from the team at Pennard House!

Find out why we think weekday weddings are such a savvy option.

More bang for your buck

With Saturdays being the traditional day to wed, venues can afford to offer discounted rates on weekdays, which is great news in these cost-of-living crisis times! Whether you have a tight budget or want more for your money, to spend on things such as your dress, food, entertainment, or maybe even a stylist – there’s no need to compromise when you can have your dream day within your budget.

Bag your dream venue

The majority of couples are getting married for the first time, so some find it surprising how booked up venues can get when they first start hunting – to get married on a Saturday in Summer, you often have to book 18-24 months in advance. A weekday gives you more availability and choice, which brings us on to our next ‘tick’…

Get married quicker

Some couples enjoy a long lead up to their day and others find it somewhat stressful. Why wait 2 years when you could be married within 6 months? At Pennard, we’ve had some couples get married in 6 weeks! Less planning = less time to stress.

Enjoy exclusivity

At Pennard we do not host back-to-back weddings, which gives couples a chance to stay the night before and make the most of their celebrations, with exclusive use of the house throughout their stay. Having your big day on a weekday means you’re more likely to have flexibility on check in and out times.

Secure the best suppliers

Good suppliers get booked up very quickly, and there’s nothing worse than finding a date and having to compromise on those all-important details such as your photographer and florist. Suppliers have a lot more availability during the week and some even charge less too!

Trim your guest list

Weed out guests whom you felt obliged to invite and who might have felt obliged to attend if it were a Saturday. And don’t worry about your favourite guests not showing up. The pandemic has given us flexible working, and those who really want to be there will take time off!

Have we convinced you?!

If you’re considering a weekday wedding at Pennard, email weddings@pennardhouse.com and one of our wedding directors will send you more info!

Who says small isn’t beautiful?! Phil and Kathryn got married in September last year, when due to Covid restrictions only 30 guests could attend. Having already postponed once from July, they decided against postponing again and instead to go ahead with a small intimate affair. And wow, despite all the restrictions, this turned out to be such a special day.

We just loved Sarah and Lee’s colourful, flower filled wedding. They were the most wonderful couple to plan the big day with, from their first visit to Pennard through the planning and the day itself they were happy and gentle and really enjoyed it all. When it came to the day their wedding was just like them – full of love, laughter, colour and family. This gorgeous wedding was featured on the amazing Mr and Mrs Unique blog, click here to see more.

The lovely Lil and Jamie had a stunning outdoor wedding on a beautifully sunny Saturday in June. They wanted a big celebration and really made the most of the large gardens here at Pennard. Every little space was adorned with lanterns, fairy lights and flowers! With family arriving from all over the world, an emotional outdoor ceremony with the talented Buzztones singing Lil down the aisle and back ,was followed by a joyous reception in the sun. There was even a full doughnut wall filled with bright and beautiful sweet treats! These bright and fun images by the great Howell Jones Photography were featured on Rock my Wedding blog, have a look here for more pictures of the quirky day!

Wow we loved Emma and Conor’s cool and quirky fiesta style wedding last September. They tied the knot in the village church, with a ceremony filled with laughter and excitement, followed by a colourful reception on the lawn complete with an amazing Mariachi band. The Coach House was decorated with pompoms, vintage hankies and a kitsch trolley bar – with most of the décor handmade by the couple themselves. This fantastic fiesta was captured by the brilliant Oxi Photography and featured on the inspiring Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog site.

The super wonderful Susie and Joe’s wedding here at Pennard House was a two day affair full of laughter, love and loveliness! Looking for a venue with a relaxed and fun atmosphere, Susie and Joe took advantage of all that Pennard has to offer with a full weekend wedding – drinks and dinner on the Friday night with friends and family, the marriage ceremony in the village church followed by dinner and dancing in the Coach House, and then a relaxed BBQ on the lawn the day after. So nice to see these stunning images featured on the amazing Rock my Wedding blog. Images by the ever talented Ali Paul Photography.

We love it when our couples are featured on the beautiful Rock My Wedding blog, and so we were so happy to see these amazing images of Tony and Lee’s dreamy wedding from last year. We loved these two, along with their lovely daughter Evie, and it was such a joy to be involved in their special day. Tonya and Lee were looking for a mix of country house and rustic barn setting to get married, and so Pennard provided all the elements for them to create a wonderful relaxed country wedding with a vintage vibe. Emma and Saket’s Indian inspired wedding took place at Pennard House in September 2017 and will be particularly loved by flower lovers. Emma’s mum is a florist and supported by two further florists the wedding was a wonderful frenzy of autumnal floral colours. We particularly loved the incredible autumn hedgerow inspired installation on the staircase.  The roses in the gardens at Pennard were also still in full bloom, making everything look colourful and beautiful.

I’m passionate about flowers and I knew from the outset that flowers had to feature in a big way at our wedding. I’m very fortunate that my Mum is a florist and flower grower and we spent many hours together coming up with ideas. We designed a spectacular installation for the staircase, inspired by a countryside hedgerow.”

The sun shone, creating a perfect setting for Emma and Saket’s outdoor ceremony. Guests were then treated to a specially designed feast of authentic Indian dishes, breads and chutneys. Emma styled and planned everything herself, and has now gone on to offer her planning services to other couples – click here for more info.

It was such a pleasure to host such a lovely relaxed wedding.  To see more photos, have a look at the post on the gorgeous Rock My Wedding blog. Images by www.helenliskphotography.co.uk

The gorgeous couple Emily and Kyle were married in the garden at Pennard in August 2017. Emily, the beautiful bride in her exquisite Temperley Obelia dress stole the show in every way, so much so, she caught the attention of the team at Love My Dress.

“I fell in love with my Temperley dress instantly. It’s so unique with gold and white embroidery and is bohemian but with a glamorous twist. A touch vintage with modern geometric patterns, it felt romantic, floaty and utterly unique! Alice Temperley is a local Somerset designer, so it felt like it was meant to be.”

Creating the perfect Somerset wedding, using local designers and suppliers, we at Pennard couldn’t have asked for more in a wedding couple. Emily says,

“I wanted to get married close to my family home and use all local suppliers. It had exactly the right feeling we wanted. A pretty English country house with a festival boho vibe complete with tepees and Glastonbury connections.”

And we’re so glad we were able to work with them both to make their wedding dreams come to life.

Without further ado, fill your soul with warmth and love, and take a look at these stunning photos shared on Love My Dress.

So many great scenes from Rebecca and Joseph’s outdoor summer wedding at Pennard House, ensured it got a write up in Rock My Wedding’s real wedding feature. From the sun drenched wedding ceremony in the garden, the couple shots at sunset, and the atmosphere at the reception, every moment shows the happiness and love emanating from this fantastic couple. The whole day was wonderfully relaxed, outdoors and beautifully blush! And we LOVED their Somerset signs!! Yoom yer luvver!! 😉

You can read the write up and pour over more of their photos by Ali Paul Photography on the Rock My Wedding website.

How lovely to see the wonderful Katie and Tim’s exceptionally creative wedding featured on the Mr and Mrs Unique real wedding blog. Katie and Tim’s day was one of the most beautiful personally crafted weddings we’ve seen for a while – with almost everything apart from the food being made by the couple themselves. They designed their own bunting, flowers for tables, table plans, and invitations. Even the brides maids dresses were made by Katie, Tim’s suit was bespoke with especially embroidered buttons, and the ties were specially made for them by one of Tim’s work suppliers.

Wow!
